Senior Lead Engineer – Solar & Battery Energy Storage (BESS)

Your responsibilities

• Design and engineer large-scale solar and battery storage (BESS) projects from concept to realization
• Select appropriate technologies and components, including detailed cable sizing and power calculations
• Develop technical plans, schematics, timelines, and budgets in close collaboration with project management
• Conduct feasibility studies and site visits to assess performance and execution viability
• Act as the central technical point of contact for OEMs, consultants, contractors, and grid operators
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant legislation, safety standards, and grid requirements (e.g. G99)
• Create and review SLDs, CAD layouts, and technical documentation
• Monitor quality during execution and proactively solve technical challenges
• Collaborate closely with engineers, installation teams, and clients in Belgium and abroad (UK)
  
  
  

Requirements

• Willingness to travel to the UK approximately once per month for site visits and team coordination.
• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in solar design or renewable project engineering.
• A background in battery storage (BESS) is a strong plus.
• Skilled in managing complex, utility-scale renewable projects.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch or other European languages is an advantage.
• Analytical, precise, and proactive — with strong communication skills.
